Τα soap nuts είναι ένας φυσικός καρπός του δέντρου  Sapindus mukorossi  που φυτρώνει σε χώρες της Ασίας. Τα κελύφη των καρπών αποξηραίνονται στον ήλιο και περιέχουν περίπου 15% σαπωνίνη (saponin) και χρησιμοποιούνται ως φυσικό καθαριστικό

Οι βιολογικοί καρποί είναι κατάλληλοι για θερμοκρασίες 30°C -90°C. Τα ρούχα βγαίνουν καθαρά και φιλικά για την επιδερμίδα. Τα soap nuts συστήνονται για άτομα με ευαίσθητο δέρμα, δέρμα που παρουσιάζει αλλεργίες, έκζεμα καθώς και για παιδιά και μωρά. Τα soap nuts δεν περιέχουν καθόλου χημικά και αρώματα.

Δοσολογία για πλυντήριο ρούχων:

Βάζετε 3-6 καρπούς στο πάνινο σακουλάκι που συμπεριλαμβάνεται και το τοποθετείτε στον κάδο μαζί με τα ρούχα. Η απόδοση των καρπών επιτυγχάνεται σε ψηλές θερμοκρασίες πλυσίματος. Για αυτό οι καρποί που έχουν πλυθεί σε θερμοκρασίες κάτω από 60°C μπορούν να ξαναχρησιμοποιηθούν μέχρι να μαλακώσουν και να χάσουν το χρώμα τους. Δεν χρειάζεται να βγάλετε το σακουλάκι στο ξέβγαλμα γιατί η σαπωνίνη ελευθερώνεται μόνον σε ζεστό νερό. Μπορείτε αν θέλετε να ρίξετε μερικές σταγόνες φυσικού αιθέριου ελαίου για να δώσετε ένα ελαφρύ άρωμα στα ρούχα σας.    

Δοσολογία για πλύσιμο στο χέρι:

Βράστε 6-8 καρπούς σε μια κατσαρόλα με 2 κούπες νερό για 15 λεπτά.

Organic detergent for washing machines

Soap nuts are a pure natural product obtained from the fruits of the soap nut tree (Sapindus mukorossi ), native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia. Due to their natural content of saponins (app. 15%), the shells of the soap nuts are used for washing textiles at temperatures form 30°C to 90°C. The laundry is soft and smells fresh and the ingredients are kind to your skin. Soap nuts are recommended for people with allergies, sensitive skin, children and babies. They are completely natural and chemical free. Your baby should not come into contact with anything washed with chemicals and artificial fragrances.

Instructions for use:

For washing put 3 – 6 shells of soap nut, depending on the degree of soiling of the laundry, in one of the enclosed cotton sachets and place them inside the washing drum. The active ingredient of saponin is found in the shell and is washed our completely at high temperatures. Therefore washing cycles at temperatures below 60°C will allow reusing the shells. If the shells are soft or have lost their color, it is time to replace them. The used shells can be composted. For white laundry it is advisable to add organic oxygen bleach. In case of stubborn stains additional gall soap can be used. Since the soap nuts contains no fragrance, you laundry will be fresh, but more or less odorless. If you prefer, you can add your choice of essential oils to the rinse.

The soap nuts can be removed during rinsing or left in with the laundry. It is up to you. During the rinse cycle a small amount of saponin is released which acts as a natural fabric softener.  There is no need to take out the soap nuts before the rinse. As it is a natural soap and not a synthetic chemical, it will not leave sticky chemical residue on the fabrics as you would expect with regular detergent.

Other uses for soap nuts include:

Hand wash: Place 6-8 half shells of soap nuts into 2 cups of water. Simmer for 15 minutes. Soak laundry in solution as needed and rinse thoroughly.

Household cleaner: For everyday household cleaning, place a handful of soap nut shells in 2 cups of water and boil for 15 minutes. Allow to cool and pour into a spray bottle.

Natural Shampoo: Place 3 half shell soap nuts into 2 cups of water and simmer on the stove for 10 minutes. Some of our customers like to add essential oils and cornstarch to scent and thicken homemade soap nuts shampoo. Avoid getting soap nuts shampoo in your eyes, as it may cause irritation.

Jewelry cleaner: Simmer 2-3 half shell soap nuts in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Place jewelry in cooled solution to restore shine and remove grime.

Pet Shampoo: Simmer 3-4 soap nuts in 4-5 cups of water for 15 minutes. Allow solution to cool and bathe pets as usual. Avoid getting soap nuts solution in your pet’s eyes as it may cause irritation.
